Mark Aspland, Chief Operating Officer of the Legends Tour “Blackstar Golf have staged two successful Pro Ams for our members at Blackwell Golf Club, these events have not only given our members extra playing opportunities, but also have given the Blackwell Golf Club members the opportunity to spend time with Legends Tour members who have such a rich history in the game. In addition, the events have raised considerable amounts of money for local charities. We are anticipating that together with Blackstar Golf we can successfully stage a 12-event series across the UK”
Jeremy Robinson of Blackstar Golf said, “Following on from the success of the Pro Ams at Blackwell Golf Club in 2021 and 2022 where we have had former Ryder Cup players and Senior Major Champions play in the events, we are pleased to announce a 12 event series of one day Pro Ams across the UK; these events will give extra playing opportunities for Legends Tour players and, also, give the host golf club members and their guests the opportunity to play and socialise with Legends Tour members.
We are also delighted to have partnered with Variety Golf, who will be the 2023 Legends Tour Pro Am Series Official Charity. Variety Golf raise money to present the famous Variety Sunshine Coaches to Special Needs Schools, Youth Centres & Schools in disadvantaged areas and Children’s Hospices. The Sunshine Coach most of the time is vital in the school to get the children out and about and all the Sunshine Coaches have wheelchair access”
Jamie Little, director of Variety Golf said, “We are very much looking forward to working with Blackstar and the Legends Tour to create a successful golf series for all the partners in 2023”.
The 12 event series will start in April at North Hants GC, and will then travel to Edinburgh and visit Bruntsfield Links GC, which was founded in 1761. The events also visit two former Ryder Cup venues, Moortown and Lindrick. In September St Pierre GC, a former host to the Solheim Cup and European Tour events will host an event. The final event of the series will be on September 28th at Blackwell GC in the Midlands.
