Martin Rohwer claimed his second Sunshine Tour title when he won the Vodacom Origins of Golf Final at the Gary Player Country Club on Sunday.

Rohwer led from start to finish and closed off with a 70 to win on 13 under par, two strokes clear of Tristen Strydom who came surging through the field with a final round of 64. Wilco Nienaber, Lucca Filippi and Germany’s Freddy Schott shared third place on eight under par.

The victory sees Rohwer join some of the biggest names in South African golf to have won on the Vodacom Origins of Golf Series, which celebrated its 100^thtournament with this event. This is his first victory on the iconic series.

“Vodacom been a massive sponsor on the Sunshine Tour for so many years now, and to have a series of events like this every year since 2004 has been phenomenal for us as professionals,” said Rohwer.

With a four-shot lead going into the final round, Rohwer bogeyed the second and says he drew heavily on his strategy of focusing on every single shot to overcame that slip-up.

“My strategy helped even more today with the lead I had in terms of staying focused on each shot. “I bogeyed the second, but then to birdie the third was quite nice to settle me. It knew if I just played steady golf it would force the others to be aggressive. I definitely learnt a lot this week which I’ll take forward with me into the rest of the season. We’ve got a whole stretch of big events coming up now so to get off on the front like this is perfect.”

And a win on the legendary Gary Player Country Club is also a boost to his confidence.

“I’ve always loved the course and it’s one of the iconic courses in South Africa. I feel that if your game can hold up under pressure on the Gary Player Country Club course, then it can hold up anywhere.”

Blackstar Golf Ltd are delighted to announce that the second staging of the GLAL.UK Worcestershire Masters will again be hosted by The Vale GC. The event is part of the 2022 PGA EuroPro Tour.

The  Glal.Uk Charity Pro Am will again start the week of golf, and like last year will be supporting the Worcestershire based Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust https://www.gkcct.org/  this will be held on Tuesday July 19th, followed by the 54 hole professional event from July 20^th-22nd which last year was won by Joe Dean.

Stuart Little led his team to victory in the first Blackwell Charity Pro Am, in addition Stuart also won the indivual Pro event with a 3 under par 67.

The first staging of GLAL.UK Worcestershire Masters will be hosted at the stunning Vale GC from June 30th - July 2nd, with the pre-event Pro Am taking place on June 29^th .

The event makes up part of the 2021 PGA EuroPro Tour. The tour is based mainly in the UK with a majority of British based players competing, with others coming from Ireland and Continental Europe. It provides professional golfers with an entry point to a career in tournament golf. Every event on the Tour is televised on Sky Sports Golf in the UK and around the world on other partner channels, with the 2-hour programme airing in the week following on from the event in the UK. Overall, the Worcestershire Masters will be broadcasted to 500 million homes in over 140 countries.

Blackstar Golf, co-promoters of the event, are delighted to announce that Worcestershire based GLAL.UK will become the headline sponsor of the 2021 event. Anthony Ottway, CEO of GLAL.UK said, “We are delighted to be sponsoring the first Worcestershire Masters. We have always supported young sportsmen and sportswomen, and with the help of the other event partners, we hope to build the event into a recognised professional golf event. The inaugural Worcestershire Masters, will be played at the stunning Vale Golf Club near Evesham, this event

is a new and exciting Professional golf event on The PGA EuroPro Tour.

The tour is based mainly in the UK with a majority of British based players competing, with others coming from

Ireland and Continental Europe, it provides professional golfers with an entry point to a career in tournament golf.

In 2021,there will a total of 16 events and the total prize money will exceed  £1 million.

Blackstar Golf will be running a pre event Pro Am on Tuesday June 29th , for further details please contact Blackstar Golf.

David Boote finished his 2020 season with a 5th place finish at the European Challenge Tour Grand Final in Majorca. Rounds of 69,68,70 and a final bogey free round of 68 saw the Walton Heath based professional finish on 9 under par and a share of 5th place. 

Jordan Wrisdale who also played in the Grand Final, and finished 25th on the final ranking list, and David Boote finished 27th.

Jordan Wrisdale and David Boote have both qualified for the Grand Final of the 2020 Challenge Tour season. Jordan Wrisdale is currently 22 and David Boote who was the final man in to the field is 54th. The event starts on Thursday at the T Golf & Country Club in Majorca. Jordan Wrisdale finished on 12 under par to finish tied 9th and David Boote finished 9 under par for a tied 18th place at the Open De Portugal, both players shot 66 in round 3. The next eevnt for them is the Italian Challenge.

Unfortunately due to heavy rain yesterday the event at Blackwell GC was cancelled yesterday and has been rescheduled for October 23rd. Entries can be found at www.blackstargolf.net 

Stuart Manley won event 3 on the GLAL Uk Swing today at The Vale GC with a scvore of 69 to win by 1 from Order Of Merit leader David Boote. The final event is at Blackwell GC tomorrow.

Jack South shot a stunning 64 to pip Luke Donnelly by one shot to win the second event of the 2020 GLAL.UK Midlands Swing at Sandwell Park. South now joins OJ Farrell at the top of the Greenlighting OOM with 2 events to go, which will be held at The Vale GC and Blackwell GC on August 26 and 27th.

Ollie Farrell shot a 4 under par 67 to join  David Boote in a play off at the first event on the Glal.UK Midlands Swing at South Staffordshire GC. The second event takes place tomorrow at Sandwell Park GC

Blackstar Golf are delighted to announce that glal.uk will be the title sponosr of 4 new one day events which will be based in the Midlands.. South Staffordshire GC will host the first event on August 13th, followed by Sandwell Park GC on August 14th. The Vale GC at Evesham will stage event 3 on August 26th and the final event will be at the superb Blackwell GC on August 27th.
